Learn
Every gathering has an unspoken entry cost: knowing someone, knowing the norms, knowing where to stand. Lower all three.
Name the norms out loud. 'Kids run around, food is potluck, people leave whenever' tells newcomers they can't get it wrong.
Give newcomers a role. Handing someone a task is faster than any icebreaker.
Reflect
Who would feel out of place at your next gathering, and why?
Try it
At the next event you attend, find the person standing alone.
Somewhere real to practice this
Choose one. Nothing is sent to them — this is just for you.
